XII Meeting of PCC.II will be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina from September 16 to 19, 2008

The Secretariat of the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL) of the Organization of American States wishes to inform the list with the selected candidates that they fulfill all the requirements to receive this fellowship to study the course of  "Public Networks Security Management and Stategic  Issues"This course is offered  by the International Telecommunication Union and ITU Centre of Excellence for the Region of the Americas over the Excellence Network Node: Blas Pascal University of Córdoba, Argentina.

General Information:

1) Site: This training event is offered by the Center for Excellence for the Americas Region of the ITU with participation of Nodo, Blas Pascal University of Córdoba, Argentina.  Telephone: (54-351) 414-4444, E-mail: excelencia-cursos@ubp.edu.ar) with support from the Telecommunication Department of Guatemala. This seminar and expo will take place in Guatemala City, Guatemala

2) Dates of the Seminar: October 29-31, 2002 (3 days)

11:00 - 12:30 Case studies and legal experiences.Format: Lecture.  Presenter: Representative of a law firm.
12:30 - 14:30 Lunch.
14:30 - 16:00 Presentations by providers of solutions. Format: thumbnail presentations.  Presenters: Representatives of the suppliers

16:30 - 18:00 Open discussion panel. Format: Workshop. Presenters: Moderators from ITU and/or CITEL. Representatives of the suppliers. Audience participation
17:30 - 19:00 Visits to the booths of the principal suppliers of security products.

7) Requeriments:

a) Be a citizen of an OAS Member State or permanent resident in an OAS member country, except for Guatemala which is the host country of this course (residents must submit a copy of their visa);

b) Good command of Spanish or English, documented with a certificate of proficiency if it is not the mother tongue;

c) Participant profile:

8) Benefits: a) CITEL/IACD/OAS will provide round trip air transportation, economy class, from the country of origin to the place of study. b) CITEL/IACD/OAS will pay a lump sum of US$332.00 per fellow for subsistence and lodging. This sum covers four days’ stay in the hotel where the meeting takes place and includes breakfast and lunch. c) CITEL/IACD/OAS will pay the seminar registration fee of US$200.00 per participant.

9) Certification: CITEL/IACD/OAS and the ITU Center of Excellence for the Americas Region will present the participants with a certificate on their successful completion of the course.

10) Presentation of Candidates: Applications shall be made using OAS Form 98 (Fellowship Application Form), including all necessary documentation, and shall be sent to the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development, 1889 F Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20006, USA, through the official channels set up by each country’s government (National Liaison Agencies). OAS Form 98, as well as the list of National Liaison Agencies, can be obtained at OAS Offices in the Member States, or over the internet at The Educational Portal of the Americas at http://www.educoas.org 

Note: Please inform institutions interested in presenting candidates that the awarding of these fellowships is subject to the availability of funds in the Regular Budget for 2002.

IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF EACH NATIONAL LIAISON OFFICE SUBMITS NO MORE THAN FIVE (5) APPLICATIONS.


[1]The deadline for presentation of applications to the National Liaison Office (ONE) differs from country to country and should therefore be confirmed with the relevant ONE in the applicant's country of origin. ONEs are requested to submit application forms to the Inter-American Agency for Cooperation and Development in Washington, DC., by the deadline specified in the course announcement or in the revised communication.
