XII Meeting of PCC.II will be held in Mar del Plata, Argentina from September 16 to 19, 2008 |
There will be a one day workshop on the Mobile Satellite Service on August 22 during the PCC.III meeting in Mexico City. The workshop will define the type of services the MSS will be capable of providing and possible regulatory considerations that administrations will need to consider prior implementation. A bound volume of the papers presented will be distributed to participants and member countries for future reference.
The U.S. Government, in light of the decisions taken at the Summit of the Americas, offered to CITEL the services of two consultants, on a short term basis, to provide assistance in the areas of planning for the collection of spectrum utilization information and the identification of the telecommunication equipment certification processes that are presently employed in the Americas. The reports of the consultants will be presented at the meetings of PCC.III in Mexico City and PCC.I in Washington in August and September respectively.
The Working group in charge of the Preparation of the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-95) met in Brasilia from June 26-29. The meeting was attended by 63 delegates from 13 countries and 5 international and regional organizations. The meeting reviewed the report of the Voluntary Group of Experts and proposals from Members. A compilation of proposals is being prepared and distributed to members prior to the PCC.III meeting in Mexico on August 21-25. Identification of areas on which common agreement is reached is the primary objective of the review process.
Meetings of COM/CITEL and ITU/BDT/CITEL
on Development Indicators and the Blue Book are scheduled for December.
The annual meeting of COM/CITEL is scheduled for 11-15 December in Montevideo, Uruguay. ITU/CITEL coordination on Development Indicators is on 5-6 December and the Blue Book on 7-8 December.
